If you are not a citizen of the EEA, you need a residence permit or a visa with an additional notation for the ability to work. This visa can be requested at an Austrian embassy. For internships between 3 to 6 months, you need to apply for a visa type-D. You should make an appointment at the embassy as soon as possible. The documents required by the embassy for a visa type-D are as follows:

For visa D at the embassy, the following documents are required:

1. One application form (filled out in Latin letters)
2. Passport + copy (A4 format) of the data page only
3. One photo (ICAO Standard)
4. Documents regarding the purpose of stay in Austria (IAESTE Austria Confirmation of Employment letter)
5. Proof of accommodation (if available – it's not a must)
6. Health/Travel insurance (valid at least for one month (to cover the period until you will be insured in Austria), covering Covid 19 and valid in all Schengen Countries, sum covered at least 30.000 Euro)
